Can someone from India play Gms?

I have a friend from India who I don't speak to often but he is interested in playing maple story with me -does anyone know if he is he able to play GMS with me due to the region blocks.

I'm pretty sure India isn't a blocked region, although I've no idea if it may fall under the Asian Maplestory versions since it's closer? Ask him to try though, it only takes a minute to make an account!
